PIL (Public Image Limited) - Death Disco (1979)


Après avoir oeuvré comme chanteur des Sex Pistols dès 1975 (sous le pseudonyme de Johnny Rotten), John Lydon forme Public Image Limited en 1978.  

En 1979, après la sortie de leur second album Metal Box, PIL reprend le morceau Swan Lake et sort un Ep qui deviendra Death Disco.

Le guitariste du groupe, Keith Levene, déclarera en 2001 (Perfect Sound Forever) à propos du morceau : "I used 'Swan Lake' for the melody. The reason it was called 'Death Disco' was because it was about John's mum. The person he was singing about, 'seeing in your eyes,' was his mother dying. That's what John was singing about very passionately, I might add. From my point of view, I was just trying to do something with the music. I didn't know what he was singing about at the time – he was just: "It's 'Death Disco' Keith, that's what it is!"
